Paulsens Cabin marks the hillside remains associated with Fred H. Paulsen (1907–1978), brother of Daisy Paulsen Tappan and a lifelong Middle Fork packer, miner, and hay hand. Guides place his cabin up the hill on river right near mile 43.7; Paulsen’s family had lived on the Middle Fork since his childhood near Indian Creek. RiverBrain and Carrey & Conley’s Middle Fork history treat the site as historic cabin remains from that settler era.
