Sheepeater Hot Springs (about mile 13.1, river left) is a multi-pool geothermal site on a high bench; the name commemorates the Tukudeka (“Sheepeaters”). Jack Crane, a Bingham Canyon copper-mine foreman with claims here, built an enclosed cabin near the springs around 1911 (logs remain). Gene Hussey and Charles Smith of the Powerhouse mill also wintered on the upper and lower flats, using cabins as trapping headquarters; foundation traces and ditching for domestic water are still reported.
